Effect of Teach-Yourself-Mathematics Strategy (TYMS) on Students’ Mathematics Achievement

Little has been known about teach-yourself strategy, because many studies have not carried out on it in most parts of the world, like done with self-regulated learning (SRL) which gave birth to teach-yourself-strategy. It is unfortunate that SRL able solve problem mathematics achievement Nigeria. This study investigated effect Teach-Yourself-Mathematics Strategy (TYMS) students’ achievement. The participants included 121 (52 males and 69 females) students drawn from two schools Imo State A structured interview Gender Perception (GP) Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) were used for data collection. findings revealed a significant increase low achieving who learnt topic called sequence series use scores male female did differ significantly showing teach-yourself-strategy bridged gender gap existed results this show potential improving bridging than every other strategy previously teaching students.
